It's hard to see the suffering of your friends.
It hurts so deeply. Spurgeon was excellent in today's evening devotional when he expounded on Mark 15:23 which reads,
"And they gave Him to drink wine
mingled with myrrh;
but He received it not".
Why didn't He? He refused the pain reliever offered Him that day so that He could fully appreciate the pain of my friends who will bury their infant daughter tonight. As Spurgeon said, "He must go the whole way, from the highest glory to the cross of deepest woe. This myrrhed cup, with its soporific influence, would have stayed Him within a little of the utmost misery, therefore He refused it. He would not stop short of all He had undertaken to suffer for His people". It still hurts deeply, but His own pain is like a balm for ours.

Jessica, it is so true...even while I was in labor, His pain was a balm for mine.
