The Mole-inators

We have no way to explain this unusual phenomenon, but we shall do our best to narrate to you the adventures of the Mole-inators. While visiting the front porch for a burst of sunshine, Moley (aka Jessica), noticed that the creeping phlox had a heartbeat. While gazing in wonder at this unusual sight, Molinda (Rush) came out on the porch (slamming the door quite loudly behind her, of course). After a "shhh" and a hand motion from Moley, she moved stealthily forward. Suddenly, another heartbeat was emitted from the flower bed. Unusual occurance, no? Molinda brought a stick from the yard and she and Moley tried desperately to oust the little bugger from his sod halls. Moley reached her emotional limit when the end of her stick poked something squishy. You can only imagine the shriek. Obviously seeing that the stick-prodder needed extra support, Molinda took the stick and began poking around in the dirt. Alas, no further discoveries we made. Moley ran to the picture window and banged (very ladylike, I'm sure) on it. Molissa (aka Nans) was inside playing "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor" by J.S. Bach on the piano. Quickly abandoning her musical efforts, she came to the rescue of panic stricken Moley and Molinda. A bucket was brought by the minstrel in which to place our prize catch (should we catch him). The Molther also came to our support and suggested a shovel be brought. This was a good suggestion since Moley was much desiring to reach her hands down in the dirt and just pick him up. Molther informed us that "He might bite you. He IS a rodent". Ah, wise advice. However, the mole bumps ceased shortly after. Soon Molther went back to her duties. A wonderful resource came to our aid thereafter: Janie, the Molvalous (aka Janie, the cat). Upon sauntering up to our front porch position, she detected a slightly unusual odor (and it wasn't Moley's lack of a shower). She promptly went to work sniffing where our genteel eyes could not probe. Lo and behold, a bump started right where she was sniffing. Alas, a failed shovel attempt (shoveller shall at this time remain un-named) followed. The self-proclaimed Mole-inators decided to call it a day, but not before doing a high class (NOVA-like, some might say) documentary about the experience.
